ARAI Tour X4 Allroad Motorcycle Helmet
The Japanese helmet factory offers an interesting lightweight dual sport alternative, the ARAI Tour X4 -allroad motorcycle helmet which is also called ARAI XD4 in the US. Dual sport helmets are kind of hybrids and designed for both offroad and road motorcycling. Therefore the TX4 is more versatile than conventional offroad helmets and brings together the best features of offroad- and full-face helmets. The ARAI Tour X4 -helmet can be used also without the peak or the visor, offering 3 -configurations in a single helmet. The ALLROAD -configuration includes the peak and the visor providing additional sun cover and compressed ventilation features in upright posture, but also the widest vision and functionality. The OFFROAD -configuration without the visor allows to use also offroad goggles with the TX4 -eye port, providing additional air flow on the face. The STREET -configuration without the peak allows the rider to lean strongly forward in a sporty riding posture and look more up like with any other full-face helmet.
ARAI Tour X4 Allroad Motorcycle Helmet Features
The ARAI Tour X4 -motorcycle helmet is a solid choice for allroad touring on versatile surfaces and in varying conditions. In addition to different configurations, the TX4 can be also customized from inside out. The helmet interior offers proper support and a snug fit, thanks to ARAI Face Contour System -FCS and layers of foam. 5 mm. layers can be pealed off from the cheek- and temple pads according personal preferences and shapes in order to fine tune the support. The TX4 -cheek pads can be also quick removed from the helmet by using emergency straps. Below the lining there are orange straps which are used to pull the cheek pads out of the helmet in an emergency situation in order to avoid further injuries. The orange labels on the bottom inform the paramedics about the option. The fast wicking comfort headliner is removable, washable and replaceable. The ARAI Tour X4 -motorcycle helmet has a traditional double D -ring strap lock which may not be the fastest buckle, but for sure gives the best fine adjustment and simplicity there is. The TX4 -neck roll offers additional noise reduction features compared to conventional offroad helmets with more open bottom padding.
The ARAI Tour X4 -motorcycle helmet has one of the best ventilation concept with so called ARAI Free Flow System -FFS. The TX4 has numerous vents all around the helmet and the adjustments are easily operated with gloves on. At the front there are 7 -intakes and at the rear 4 -exhaust vents. 9 of them can be closed and opened according to need. On top of the helmet 2 -intakes benefit from the peak design. The peak simply presses air to those vents making intake more efficient. There are 6 -holes on the top of the shell and the rear diffusors can be set in 3 -positions; open, half open and fully closed. The diffusors create suction pulling the air out of the helmet. The TX4 -visor has 2 brow-vents on the top edge of the visor delivering fresh air to the temple area. All the hottest spots are well ventilated and controllable. The chin vent works in 2 ways. By closing the chin vent from behind, the air stream goes up on the visor and prevents fogging. When the chin vent is left open from behind, the air flow comes directly on the face. On both sides of the chin bar there are intakes with adjustment sliders providing even more fresh air on the face when needed.
The overall ARAI Tour X4 -motorcycle helmet design is round, as smooth as possible and therefore very strong. The TX4 has no specific integration with helmet communication systems, but universal headsets can be easily installed in and there is plenty of room for speakers. A unique visor pivot mechanism allows to flip up and keep the visor close to the shell providing more room for the peak and allowing enhanced aerodynamics. The peak is placed a little bit higher compared to the offroad version ARAI MX-V, allowing free air flow below the peak, eliminating buffering and pull effect at highway speed. The TX4 -peak angle can be adjusted by using the 2 -locking screws on both sides. The peak in front of the visor is from underneath black eliminating reflections and glare. The TX4 -visor can be closed in 2 -stages, in a vented city- and normal fully closed position. The visor has no anti-fog treatment, because the FFS creates suction and efficient air flow which keeps the visor clear. On the bottom of the chin bar, there is a flip down spoiler giving a little bit protection for the bare skin against the flying debris and hard shell insects.
