RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® Jacket and AirVision Pants
RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants with detachable Gore-Tex® & Outlast -mid layers are designed for everything between a very warm and moderate allroad riding conditions. This suit is generally good for all around the Europe, but highlights warm, humid and hot weather riding features. The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants have a simple and good looking layout. The elegant riding suit is very versatile, allowing adaptation to changing conditions and following a common outdoor apparel principle of wearing multiple layers. The CORDURA® based shell construction respects high ventilation requirements all the way. Nor are the external pockets forming air tight spots in the front and reducing the air flow. The separate detachable mid layer jacket and pants offer the rain and wind protection, but also temperature regulation.
The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants shell fabric is knitted CORDURA® fibre and so called air flow technology AFT -fabric allowing constant and more efficient ventilation through the shell construction compared to the regular CORDURA® 500D. This is the highest ventilation level offered by RUKKA and more extreme alternatives come from KLIM and TOURATECH. Below the waist line the AirMan jacket has extension panels on both sides, but there are no vents thank to the CORDURA® AFT -shell material. The stylish glossy grey color alternative reduces the effect of the direct sun light slightly more than the conventional black, but personally I would prefer even more lighter colors and tones for warm and hot weather riding. Although the general fact is that most of the motorcycle riders prefer the black color which unfortunately limits the producers choice.
When the temperature drops below 20 degrees or 68F, the RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants offer detachable Gore-Tex® and Outlast -mid layer protection against the chilly wind and the rain. The mid layer concept basically works very well, but the other side of the coin is that putting on the liner pants on the road somewhere when the rain suddenly hits, is quite impractical and leads soon to proactivity. Therefore the Outlast lining is a perfect solution to regulate the temperature change. The jacket can be zipper connected with the pants which reduces the ventilation in the waist area a little bit and forms a riding suit, but since the shell fabric allows a free air flow through the construction, it`s not significant. The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket collar is soft neoprene and works well together with the helmet without sticking to the helmet lining and pulling when turning the head.
RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Jacket & AirVision Pants Features
The wide woven RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants shell construction is made of CORDURA® AFT -fabric which is very breathable. The air flows through the fabric and ventilates the garment non stop and therefore the suit requires no separate air vents. The simple RUKKA AirMan -jacket layout without external chest pockets, maintains the maximum air flow around the hottest areas. Even the back protector is removed, but the insert pocket has been left for those with safety in mind. The CORDURA® AFT is on top of the ventilation features highly abrasion and tear resistant and therefore it`s ideal for tough offroad conditions.
The other side of the CORDURA® AFT -construction is that the zippers and external pockets of the RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants are not wind or waterproof neither and the Gore-Tex® & Outlast -mid layer becomes necessary in the rain and moderate weather conditions. The Outlast lining is able to store the excess heat and regulate the temperature in side the garment by controlling the moisture levels. As soon as the conditions change, the Outlast lining automatically releases the stored heat and moisture for rider`s benefit. This is so far the best solution from the pants and proactive wearing point of view. Nor wet or sweaty pants are comfortable to ride.
The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket has several volume adjustments such as the waist belt, VELCRO® -cuff, upper and lower arm 3 stage snap fastener adjustments. Versatile volume adjustments allow to fine tune the garment according to the number of layers in question and keep the armor inserts in the right places. Therefore it is both comfort and safety related feature. The sleeve cuffs are zipper closed which makes putting the jacket on, pulling the gloves on and placing the long cuffs below the jacket cuffs quick and easy. All external pockets and the collar are zipper and magnet closed which is better for dusty allroad conditions, does not stick to materials and lasts longer in frequent use than the VELCRO®.
The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants have altogether 7+2 pockets plus 2 more in the mid layer jacket which is basically enough and simply better from the ventilation and protection point of view. Having too much items in the pockets serves no purpose, but since this suit is designed for hot weather riding, having a back pack would also reduce the amount of air flow. Some of the items should be simply placed somewhere on the bike. 3 pockets out of 11 are waterproof and 1 of them is a waterproof pouch in side a pocket. Therefore sensitive travel items should be in dry bags or cases which unfortunately also reduces the air flow through the pockets and that is another reason to optimize the amount of items in the RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and AirVision -pants pockets.
The RUKKA AirMan Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket has D30 Air molecular armor inserts for the limbs, but there is no back protector as standard feature. Although the jacket has a back protector insert pocket. It`s probably left out due to the reducing air flow effect, but personally I think that the safety comes always first, especially in allroad riding on versatile surfaces. By removing the armor, even higher air flow through the suit could be accomplished, but also the room for an error cancelled. The RUKKA D30 Air protectors can be easily removed from the jacket for machine wash or replaced with more air flow efficient protection system.

RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Pants
The RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants are made of the same CORDURA® AFT as the RUKKA AirMan jacket and have also detachable Gore-Tex® and Outlast liner for the rain and moderate weather conditions. The 60g Outlast lining is relative thin, but very much in line with the intended use. The liner is zipper connected from the top and strapped with buttons from the cuffs. In the high wear areas, there are double GORDURA® AFT layers as reinforcements. The 2 external pockets and zippers are not waterproof, but the front pockets are seldom any good as a storage. Typical for RUKKA, the RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants have no front gator behind the flap, but in this case it would have not been any waterproof issue neither.
The RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants is designed to fit with several RUKKA -jackets and the pants are therefore available in black only. That is very understandable compromise, but reduces the cooling effect in the direct sun light. Behind and above the knees there are stretch panels which allow the pants to adapt in different riding positions, but unfortunately there are no similar elastications in the crotch area as featured with the RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® pants. The stretch panels simply reduce the pull and twist which is typical for a trim fit. Therefore all purpose pants are slightly less ideal for demanding conditions. The RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants are supported with detachable suspenders which allow further air flow in the waist area when adjustments are left slightly loose, but those who prefer to ride without it, can do so by releasing the quick VELCRO® -fasteners.
The RUKKA AirVision Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants have comfort oriented RUKKA Air CUSHION -layer to minimize the pressure of the edges and forms in the rider seat against the skin which is a very welcome feature for touring purposes and improves the blood flow in the high pressure area. The pants have in the seat area a special glide preventing contact patch called RUKKA Antiglide KEPROTEC® which helps eliminating unintentional sliding on the seat. The pants have RVP Air -hip and knee protectors which are in line with the high ventilation features due to the grid and free air flow construction. The RUKKA RVP Air -protectors can be easily replaced with the RUKKA D30 Air -armor inserts and removed for machine wash.
