The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and pants have breathable shell fabric CORDURA 500 deniers which is very abrasion resistant and MC -approved material. The shell fabric allows slow air flow through the fabric which is interesting above 20 degree or 68 fahrenheit temperatures. In front of the RUKKA Päijänne MC -jacket there are also intake zipper vents on the shoulders, exhaust vents on the upper back and below both armpits to increase the ventilation capacity. In addition the light brown color option reduces the effect of direct sun light in the hottest conditions. Such ventilation features keep the rider comfortable in various conditions and stages of active riding.

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and pants support the common outdoor wearing principle of several removable layers that allow to adjust the garment for changing conditions. The removable Gore-Tex® and Outlast liners provide together the rain protection, temperature regulation and insulation features. The water and windproof layers becomes necessary in the rain and below 20 degrees temperatures, depending on the base layer in question and riding activity level. The Outlast lining regulates the temperature inside the suit by storing the extra heat and relieving it when conditions change.

RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Jacket & Pants Features

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and pants have interesting features for warm weather riding. The shell fabric CORDURA® 500D allows constant and slow air flow through the fabric providing basic ventilation for warm weather conditions. For hotter conditions there are 2 intake vents at the front and 3 exhaust vents, 2 below the armpits and 1 on the upper back. As long as the rider carries no backpack, these air vents are perfect. Personally I carry all the time a hydration pack and the straps press the vents limiting the ventilation capacity.

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and pants have also the opposite weather features. When the temperature drops, a cold rain or chilly winds come up, the detachable Gore-Tex® & Outlast mid layer jacket and the storm collar protect against the elements. The jacket collar has inside a soft neoprene surface which is comfortable against the throat. The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® MC -jacket can be zipper connected with the pants which helps even further to minimize the ventilation and build up an air buffer zone inside the jacket. The other side of the coin is that the zippers and the shell construction lets the water and the air flow through all the time which makes the water and windproof mid layer absolutely necessary.

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket has 3 external pockets, 2 chest pockets in the front and one large rear pocket at the back. The shell jacket has also 2 internal pockets and the Gore-Tex® & Outlast liner jacket has 2 waterproof pockets with mobile phone features. Therefore the number of waterproof pockets is low and I would recommend to place the sensitive items in those pockets into watertight dry bags and cases such as AQUAPAC. Exceptionally the RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® MC -jacket has no front side pockets below the waist line and personally I prefer so. Having hard objects in those pockets tend to pull and push against the rider or the bike. It is also a safety issue. Especially when riding actively and maneuvering, pockets around the waist line should be quite empty and if a fall happens, there should be nothing hard in the pockets that could stick or penetrate into the rider.

RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Jacket & Pants Adjustments

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket cuffs are very simple from structure and have VELCRO® quick adjustments. Arm volumes can be quick adjusted in 3 positions with 2 snap fasteners in both sleeves. The waist line can be adjusted on both sides too and the adjustment itself is flexible. Exceptionally the factory offers additionally extra long pants which is a very welcome feature. I am one of those riders having slightly longer legs and arms compared to average and pant cuffs tend to come quite up when riding in sitting posture. The extra length of 7 cm is divided in 2 parts, half for the thigh section and the rest for the cuffs. I am sure there are plenty of riders benefitting of this feature.

RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Jacket & Pants Protection

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle jacket and pant impact protection is delivered with RUKKA D30 Air shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and central back protectors that are in normal condition fairly soft and flexible, but upon an impact the D30 reactive molecules lock together instantly absorbing, spreading the force and reducing the impact energy. The RUKKA D30 Air protectors are CE certified and meet the requirements of EU standards. Such protector inserts are a minimum requirement for allroad touring, but for sure the rider needs more protection, the more challenges are taken. The RUKKA D30 Air protectors can be easily removed from the garment for a machine wash or when replaced with a more extensive protection system. RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® Motorcycle Pants

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants have special Kevlar reinforced anti glide Keprotec® overlay and Air Cushion layer against the seat. The RUKKA Antiglide and Keprotec® overlay provides better grip and prevents unintentional sliding on the seat. The sliding is a common phenomena for a lot of lower quality MC garments and in some cases can be quite buggering, depending also on the rider seat angle and the materials in question. The RUKKA Air Cushion is an airy net with a Gore-Tex® layer working as a climate buffer and waterproof surface, but also reducing the condensation inside the garment.

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants have stretch panels behind and above the knees, but also on thighs, allowing the pants to adjust in different riding postures without pulling or squeezing. They are a clear comfort feature as the zipper vents on thighs. If the pants are tightly against the thighs, basically pulling and squeezing, the air vents are also not working efficiently and the pants become hotter than otherwise. The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants come with the suspenders which is practical. Personally I prefer to have the suspenders and leave the waist line slightly loose for further air flow and ventilation. When the conditions turn from warm to the opposite, the Gore-Tex® & Outlast mid layer, closed air vents and the zipper connection with the jacket protect the rider against the elements.

The RUKKA Päijänne Gore-Tex® motorcycle pants have 4 pockets for storage. 2 internal pockets in front below the waist line and 2 external thigh pockets with zipper and magnet closure. Note that the pockets are not waterproof and sensitive items in the pockets may require dry bags. There are leather reinforcements in the pant legs and against the seat in high wear areas. Pant cuffs can be opened wider with the zipper which is practical when the boots are on. The VELCRO® quick fasteners allow to make further adjustments to increase or decrease the air flow through the cuffs.
