An inner PUIG Rear Wheel Fender and mudguard for the BMW R1200 GS Adventure protects the bike, the rider`s and the passenger`s feet from the dirt, debris and the water spray from the rear tyre. The BMW R1200 GS Adventure has a very modest mudguard at the back which basically cuts the dirt spray behind the tyre, but there`s nothing in front of the tyre to protect the bike, rear suspension unit etc. Depending on speed and amount of wet dirt on the ground, the knobbier allroad tyres throw dirt in every single direction. Salty and muddy conditions can really fill up every little hole and cap around the tyres and add weight substantially. In addition the mud can over time become an insulating layer on top of the hot surfaces and prevent cooling. This would be naturally dangerous and could escalate to a total failure in the middle of nowhere. The dirt would build up all around the rear suspension and the narrow fastening point to the swing arm. Once there is dirt everywhere, a hard stone could stick in the most harmful places such as the lower fastening point of the suspension unit. If the stone comes between the swing arm and the lower part of the fastening point, something could brake badly. The BMW R1200 GS Adventure has brake fluid reservoirs, hoses and cables rather close to the rear wheel which makes the additional protection even more important. When riding with knobby tyres at relative slow speed, the knobs could grab small stones and throw them at some of the most vital parts. The PUIG Rear Wheel Fender for the BMW R1200 GS Adventure is available in matt black and carbon look. The PUIG fender is made of thermoformed ABS plastic which could be also painted according to personal preferences. The delivery package includes all necessary parts and instructions to install the mudguard on the bike. The PUIG fender would be fastened onto the existing attachment points and there`s no need to modify the bike at all. In this case the mudguard could be also installed to ESA equipped BMW R1200 GS and Adventure models ranging back to 2004 (GS) and 2007 (GSA), but the knobbiest offroad tyres could come too close to the hugger. The plastic PUIG Rear Wheel Fender part is screwed onto a cast aluminium bracket in oder to allow fine adjustments sideways and placement right in the middle of the tyre line. The detailed PUIG instructions also inform about the proper tightening torques which is in this case very important due to the primary fastening point on the Paralever control arm. The installation is quick and takes only few minutes from any handyman.
